FSLGA facilitated an island-wide Provincial-level discussions to establish and strengthen lobby groups of elected women members. Following these discussions, lobby groups are now established in all nine provinces to advocate for the enactment of the gazette notification mandating the establishment of Women’s Advisory Committees across local councils.
The lobby groups are led by five office bearers of the Local Government District Women’s Networks. These women leaders are now actively engaging with key provincial authorities, including Commissioners of Local Government and Provincial Governors to expedite the process and ensure that the directive is formally approved and gazetted.
