The COVID‑19 crisis has ripened the context for digitalization to accelerate Sri Lanka’s local government council member’s productive transformation and make the island nation more resilient. The virtual debate competition became a lifeline for using data, consuming content, and engaging in digital applications by local government elected members.
The competition was conducted in both Sinhala and Tamil Medium. Being the pilot debate competition, it became an immense success. And the finals were held in person adhering to health guidelines
At the debate tournament, Maharagama urban council won the finals in the Sinhala speaking councils, with Balapitiya Pradeshiya Sabha finishing second.
