FSLGA has been given the task of assisting the UNDP’s CDLG project in enhancing the legal framework of local governments in four partner provinces. FSLGA Conducted Zoom consultation meetings with all councils in the partner province to assess the current state of the by-laws (gap analysis) and determine the new by-laws’ requirements.
At the District Level, all by-laws will be vetted with the councils, highlighting key features and giving the councils enough time to review them. If necessary, assistance will be provided in comprehending and modifying the situation in accordance with the council’s needs.
Through this project, FSLGA aims to improve local governance systems, making governments fit for the future. And by drafting the by-laws, to provide a legal and policy framework to facilitate systems change and strengthen the process of decentralization.
